Hey there! I’m Shona, a fully qualified makeup artist with 15 years of experience, specialising in bridal and special occasion makeup. Based in the picturesque Matakana, just an hour north of Auckland, I’m a proud sixth-generation Matakana native. I have two lovely little girls and an incredibly supportive husband.
In 2020, I made my dream a reality by establishing my makeup studio, “Little Takatu.” This space, designed with love and a touch chic style, allows me to share my passion with beautiful brides, offering bespoke packages for bridal groups to prepare for their big day in a serene, stylish environment.
Choosing the right makeup artist is crucial. Having been through it myself and being a part of countless weddings, I've seen trends come and go, each wedding uniquely stunning in its own way. It’s amazing to witness the evolution of styles and the individual charm each wedding exudes.
People often ask, “Do you still love doing weddings after all this time?” My answer is a resounding “YES!” It’s one of the best jobs out there, being part of someone’s special day and soaking up all the love and joy. I get to travel to some of New Zealand's most breathtaking locations, making my brides feel extraordinary from start to finish. I’m dedicated to achieving the best outcomes, tailoring my services to each bride’s unique style. From vendor recommendations to photo spots, skin health tips to product suggestions, I’m here to help shape your special day to perfection!

Specializing in bridal makeup, special occasion makeup, event makeup, makeup lessons, and more, Shona envisioned a sanctuary for her brides and clients, where tranquility and relaxation abound. The studio exudes a chic, modern, yet minimalist aesthetic, featuring beautiful oak flooring, elegant touches of pink, white walls, and sophisticated oak cabinetry.
Located a ten-minute drive from Tāwharanui Regional Park, celebrated for its stunning coastal walking trails and pristine white sand beaches, and a short seven-minute drive from Matakana Village, Little Takatu serves as the quintessential retreat for those seeking a tranquil weekend or an extended holiday in the Matakana/Tāwharanui area.
